Mulvey's Theory

What is the Gaze?
The Gaze concept is how you as a audience view people presented in the media.

A feminist can be thought of in three ways:
  • How women look at each other
  • How men look at women
  • How women look at themselves
In 1975 Laura Mulvey created the term 'Male Gaze', this was because she believed that film audiences have to view characters from the view of a heterosexual male.

Features of the male gaze:

This is the idea that the camera focuses on the curves of a women body, and how different events that happen in films are largely in the perspective of a man's reaction. Also how women are lowered to the status of an object.
